This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.We are a stellar team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will be a part of the design and development of avionics enclosures for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the avionics LRU overall strategy. As an Avionics Technical Designer you will design, analysis, development, and test ruggedized electronics enclosures (2D and 3D drawings) for sensors. You will also create LRU and sensor installation drawings and specifications, support electronics development and trade studies, create interface definition, specification, control documents, and validate requirements through design, test or inspection. Also you will provide technical guidance for hardware installation and report on activity schedule and technical status. - Design and develop 2D and 3D models and drawings for ruggedized electronics enclosures and sensor packages usingPTC Creo View
- Create and maintain LRU and sensor/harness installation drawings, specifications, and interface control documents (ICDs)
- ApplyGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards
- Manage drawing release, revision control, and configuration data withinWindchill(PLM)
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and structural engineers to support electronics development and trade studies
- Validate design requirements through analysis, test, or inspection
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing and assembly teams during hardware installation and integration
- Support design reviews (PDR, CDR) with documentation, drawing packages, and technical presentations
- Report on schedule milestones, technical status, and risks to engineering leadership
- Ensure all designs comply with aerospace materials, finishes, and treatment specifications

- A.S. degree in drafting and design or equivalent design experience
- Proficient with CreoView and Windchill
- Working knowledge of aerospace materials and treatments.
- Proficient with drafting standards ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41, etc.
- Familiarity with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4 or AS50881
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
- 3+ years of recent electronics packaging experience of documenting aerospace or equivalent Avionics LRUs and Sensor enclosures
- Validate requirements through analysis tools
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or design experience
- 5+ proven years’ industry experience in design
- Experience with ANSYS
- Experience performing thermal analysis
- Experience performing vibration analysis
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40Don’t meet all desired requirements?
