§ 01OVERVIEW

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

As a member of the Blue Origin family of companies Honeybee Robotics has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years, establishing ourselves as pioneers in developing novel exploration systems for the most extreme planetary environments. At our Southern California location, we look to "Touch Life" by supporting planetary science, including every NASA Mars rover since Spirit and Opportunity. We aim to "Mine the Sky" through the development of practical In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) solutions. We search for technically brilliant individuals in engineering, software, and support fields who take ownership of their work, enjoy collaborating in teams, and have a laser focus on the details that drive excellence.

You'll pioneer manufacturing processes that turn bold concepts into the space flight assemblies enabling tomorrow's exploration missions. You'll bridge the gap between visionary design and practical production, ensuring every piece of assemblies—whether it's destined for lunar regolith collection, Martian exploration, or mining operations that will support Earth's sustainable future—meets exacting specifications. You have the opportunity to create a huge impact on a small but growing team!

§ 02SPECIAL MENTIONS
  • Travel expected up to 10% of the time
  • Interviews will include a technical assessment
§ 03RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Author detailed and competent work instructions for fabrication, assembly, and integration of structures, instrumentation, installation inside clean room and field installations.
  • Understand manufacturing processes through first-article builds, process capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and statistical process control (SPC) implementation for critical features, dimensions and surface integrity requirements
  • Maintain configuration control by validating as-built documentation and ensuring accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) integration into enterprise configuration management systems.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to design engineering — influencing tolerances, feature geometry, surface finish callouts, material selection, and datum schemes to optimize producibility before designs freeze
  • Assist a daily schedule for technician scope with a detailed 2-week look ahead plan for internal technician work.
  • Facilitate daily stand-up meetings to review completed work, establish next-day priorities, and ensure alignment across technical teams.
  • Design end-to-end execution strategies that outline fabrication methodology and integration sequence for test infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and safety in test stand construction.
  • Provide technical oversight for installation of pressurized gas systems, cryogenic fluid systems, and associated instrumentation.
  • Work with procurement and supply chain to ensure readiness of materials and components for work orders.
  • Participate in technical reviews for new designs and installation procedures.
  • Work with engineering to resolve technical impediments through systematic diagnosis of fabrication and assembly anomalies, implementing engineered solutions that maintain product integrity and program timeline
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for clean room assembly, machine operation, and other related requirements.
§ 04MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, and field/ clean room integration role for prototype builds and cleanroom build.
  • Demonstrated experience developing right-sized work instructions and technical documentation
  • Design fixtures/ jigs to assist assembly processes, or aerospace ground support equipment.
  • Understanding of instrumentation torquing, installation of inserts, pins, bearings, bushing, and general hardware assembly
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols for clean room assembly, general manufacturing, and field integration.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings with complex GD&T per ASME Y14.5, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures, and translate them into manufacturing process plans and build documentation
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, ERP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
§ 05PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years of direct, hands-on experience in manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, and field/ clean room integration role for prototype builds and cleanroom build.
  • Strong technical and leadership skills with attention to detail, especially when leading teams on complex integration tasks.
  • Experience managing technical teams or coordinating technician workflows with assigning appropriate tooling
  • Leverage AI tools or automation technologies to streamline repetitive tasks, improve data analysis efficiency, and enhance decision-making processes in daily manufacturing engineering activities.
