This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer III to lead the fabrication, integration, and optimization of cryogenic fluid systems and related propellant infrastructure for our launch vehicles and test operations. In this role, you will translate complex engineering requirements into manufacturable hardware for high-pressure fluid systems, cryogenic propellant management, and ground support equipment. Embodying our Passion for Mission, you will develop specialized fabrication processes, improve quality controls, and implement best practices for welding, joining, and testing of precision fluid systems operating in extreme conditions.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with cryogenic systems (LOX, LCH4, LH2), pressure vessels, or aerospace fluid applications, with a proven track record of bringing critical flight hardware from concept to implementation. Shift: A Shift Monday -Friday (7:00AM-3:30PM)
Shift: B Shift Monday - Friday (3:30PM - 11:00PM
Translate engineering intent and drawings into fully functional cryogenic fluid systems hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight
Craft manufacturing bill of materials and work instructions for precision cryogenic components and assemblies
Provide on-floor manufacturing support for cryogenic systems integration
Conduct design for manufacturability reviews with emphasis on cryogenic performance requirements
Support introduction of new cryogenic products by crafting manufacturing plan artifacts including build plans, duration estimates, index plans, and tool lists
Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of cryogenic hardware throughout the manufacturing process
Define and support repair and rework activities for cryogenic fluid systems
Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions
Develop processes compliant with industry quality systems such as AS9100, with special attention to cryogenic safety protocols
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering
5+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience in aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, or similar
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing of fluid systems, including knowledge of GD&T
Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
Experience with design, development or production of cryogenic fluid systems (LOX, LH2, LNG)
Familiarity with cryogenic testing, safety protocols, and quality control
Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Creo or CATIA V5) and AutoCAD
Customer focused with a proven track record to work cooperatively with teams of different skills across large geographic distances
Support production floor activities
Climb stairs and work in small areas
Lift and carry 40 lbs.
