§ 01OVERVIEW

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support acceptance testing of flight-critical valves and fluid system components on Blue Origin's C-Shift in the Acceptance Testing Department. You will provide test engineering guidance to all technicians on shift for vibration test campaigns on electrodynamic shaker tables — capable of independently handling routine and moderately complex issues at the test stand without weekday engineering support. You will integrate Dewesoft and LabVIEW-based data acquisition systems, troubleshoot hardware and signal issues in real time, and provide technical guidance to technicians through test setups across proof, leak, thermal, and vibration disciplines.

§ 02RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Execute vibration test operations on electrodynamic shaker tables — sine, random, sine-on-random, and shock profiles -- including fixture checkout, control/monitor accelerometer placement, abort-limit setup, and run-for-record execution
  • Set up, integrate, and operate test stands for valve and fluid component acceptance testing across proof, leak, thermal, vibration, and dynamic performance disciplines
  • Develop, modify, and maintain data acquisition configurations and test automation routines build and validate channel lists, signal conditioning, and derived measurements
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation: accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, mass flow meters, load cells, and voltage/current sensors
  • Serve as the on-shift engineering point of contact for technicians — answer questions, troubleshoot issues at a moderate level of complexity, and keep test operations moving without waiting for weekday engineering support
  • Escalate complex or out-of-scope technical issues to day-shift engineering with clear documentation and data
  • Author and red-line work instructions, test procedures, and run-for-record data packages; ensure controlled
  • documentation is followed and updated
  • Support investigation of test anomalies and non-conformances; participate in root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test cycle time, fixture reuse, and data quality through Kaizen and other
  • improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a clean, safe, 5S-compliant work area and follow lab safety protocols on shift
§ 03MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience)
  • 2+ years of hands-on test engineering experience in a hardware test environment
  • Demonstrated experience running vibration testing on electrodynamic shaker tables, including sine, random, and shock profiles
  • Strong data acquisition skills, including practical experience with at least one of Dewesoft or LabVIEW
  • Working proficiency with common test instrumentation: accelerometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, flow meters, multimeters
  • Comfortable using standard hand tools, including calibrated torque wrenches
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and test procedures
  • Ability to work C-Shift (Friday–Sunday, 12-hour shifts) on-site
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to operate independently and provide technical guidance to technicians on shift
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
§ 04PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Direct experience with Dewesoft DAQ hardware and software in a production or qualification test environment
  • LabVIEW programming experience, including VI development, DAQmx, and instrument integration over GPIB, serial, or Ethernet
  • Experience with shaker control systems (e.g., Vibration Research, m+p, Spectral Dynamics, Data Physics)
  • Familiarity with valve, fluid system, or cryogenic component acceptance testing
  • Personal interest or hobby experience in mechanics, fabrication, automotive work, robotics, or similar hands-on disciplines
  • Experience navigating engineering documentation systems (PLM/PDM, controlled drawings, work order systems)
  • Prior experience working an off-shift or weekend shift in an aerospace or regulated manufacturing environment

§ 07CULTURE STATEMENT

Don’t meet all desired requirements? Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification. At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building an authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every desired qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
