This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

We are hiring for multiple early career Engines M&P engineering roles with specialized focus in special processes, welding/joining, additive manufacture, metallurgy, casting/forging,sealingand moreinsupport ofliquid rocket engines. This role will directlyimpactdesign and manufacturability of rocket engine hardware,ultimately contributingto lowering the cost of access to space.

§ 02PRIMARY LOCATIONS

We prioritize placing early career engineers in locations where they can be co-located with their team and the relevant hardware they support. The primary locations for this role are listed below. Please indicate in the application where you would be willing to be located.

§ 03RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Develop and qualify materials and processes for liquid rocket engine applications
  • Work with design, manufacturing and process engineers to implement and optimize materials for performance and cost.
  • Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing and develop process control documentation and quality assurance measure.
  • Develop materials test plans process and materials evaluation/qualification.
  • Own process and repair qualification across the development and production lifecycle.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for special processes.
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing through non-conformance disposition, manufacturing floor support, etc.
§ 04QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. degreeor higherinMaterialsScience andEngineering,Metallurgy, Welding Engineering,MechanicalEngineering, or related field
  • Internshipexperiencefocused on materials and processeswith an emphasisonmaterials design,process development, implementation, and/orqualification
  • Exposure todefinition and qualification ofspecial processes such as welding, casting, forging, additive, or similar.
  • Experienceworking with Ni-based alloys, Cu-based alloys, and/or other materials common in aerospacepropulsionmanufacturing.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and present results in a meaningful format.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Familiarity with a wide variety of manufacturing processes (additive, casting, forging) and their impact on joining techniques
  • Experience with failure and forensic analysis of aerospace or other complex hardware
  • Experienceevaluatingand interpreting NDTinspection results
  • Understanding of quality standards,industrial codes, and/or material specifications.
