This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.As part of a talented and hardworking team of engineers, you will work on designing and developing key mechanical ground systems for Blue Origin’s launch site at LC-36 (Cape Canaveral, FL). You’ll have the unique opportunity to be part of a great team building the ground mechanical and structural systems and GSE (Ground Support Equipment) for Blue Origin’s rockets.
Create 3D CAD models, detailed engineering schematics, and technical drawings for mechanical components.
Build and evaluate physical prototypes, conduct tests, and compile performance data.
Prepare technical reports, update bills of materials (BOMs), and maintain clear documentation for design changes.
Perform basic stress analyses, tolerance stack-ups
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar disciplines.
0-2 years experience with a strong background in design/analysis/construction of mechanical systems
2-5 experience with a strong background in design/analysis/construction of mechanical systems
5+ years of experience in similar role
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred but usually not strictly required
Proficiency in CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and familiarity with FEA/CFD simulation tools
Understanding materials, thermodynamics, kinematics, and manufacturing processes..
Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
Experience in ANSYS.
Experience in PTC Creo/Windchill.
