This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of a talented and hardworking team of engineers, you will work on designing and developing key mechanical ground systems for Blue Origin’s launch site at LC-36 (Cape Canaveral, FL). You’ll have the unique opportunity to be part of a great team building the ground mechanical and structural systems and GSE (Ground Support Equipment) for Blue Origin’s rockets.

§ 02RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create 3D CAD models, detailed engineering schematics, and technical drawings for mechanical components.

  • Build and evaluate physical prototypes, conduct tests, and compile performance data.

  • Prepare technical reports, update bills of materials (BOMs), and maintain clear documentation for design changes.

  • Perform basic stress analyses, tolerance stack-ups

§ 03MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED):
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar disciplines. 

§ 04LEVEL I
  • 0-2 years experience with a strong background in design/analysis/construction of mechanical systems

  • § 05LEVEL II
  • 2-5 experience with a strong background in design/analysis/construction of mechanical systems

  • § 06LEVEL III
  • 5+ years of experience in similar role

    • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred but usually not strictly required

    • Proficiency in CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and familiarity with FEA/CFD simulation tools

    • Understanding materials, thermodynamics, kinematics, and manufacturing processes.. 

    • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis. 

    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.  

    § 07DESIRED (NOT REQUIRED):
    • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field. 

    • Experience in ANSYS. 

    • Experience in PTC Creo/Windchill.
