§ 01OVERVIEW

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

As part of a small passionate team of engineers, you will design and develop combustion devices (injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, igniters, and related components) for the BE-3U Engine Program. You will be responsible for a combustion device's complete product life-cycle from initial requirements through flight qualification including design, manufacturing, test support, performing test data reviews, processing non-conforming hardware and writing technical reports. You will need to have a background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer and structural mechanics to be successful. You will be reporting directly to the BE-3U Combustion Devices Manager within the Engines business unit.

We are seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can work with minimal direction to successfully execute engineering and manufacturing upgrade activities. This position will have a measurable effect on Blue’s BE-3U engine performance and directly impact the history of space exploration.

§ 02MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space!

  • B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired)

  • Working knowledge of a variety of combustion devices

  • 5+ years of industry experience in a related field

  • Experience examining, and providing resolutions for, non-conforming hardware.

  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), (ASME Y14.5).

  • Familiarity with data analysis and data processing

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

§ 03PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced degree in engineering discipline

  • Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis, and combustion analysis

  • Strong knowledge of hardware design processes, and hardware fabrication techniques related to combustion devices

  • Knowledge  of entire combustion devices life cycle from design, development, qualification, acceptance and production

  • Experience transitioning products from development to production

  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)

  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, and Windchill 10
