This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will develop flight software and tools for navigation products used across all of Blue Origin including New Glenn, Lunar Transportation, In-Space Systems, and Advanced Concepts Engineering business units.You will support navigation system flight qualification and be responsible for requirements, design, implementation, integration, and testing of software used in safety-critical real-time avionics.

- Architect, develop, verify, and deliver embedded software for Blue Origin navigation systems
- Support integration and test activities including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
- Participate in design reviews with a focus on software design and requirement allocation between hardware and software
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or related subject area
- Strong proficiency in C/C++/Rust programming for embedded systems
- Experience working with real-time systems and developing software that interfaces directly with hardware and programmable logic
- Experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, DAC, I2C, SPI, UART, Spacewire, etc.) and networking (UDP, TCP/IP)
- Strong background in computer architecture, memory buses, cache, DMA, and CPU execution pipelines
- Experience with profiling and performance optimization
- Advanced debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary
- Experience with Linux development environments, scripting, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced new product development environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or related subject area
- Successful candidates typically have 8+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience with FPGA development and verification
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Experience with navigation sensor integration and testing
- Experience developing high-reliability software with NPR 7150.2, DO-178, or other safety-critical software standards
- Experience with board bring-up and test equipment such as a signal generators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
Base Pay Range for:
