Senior Systems Engineer - Human Spaceflight Development

This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.- Utilization of Systems Engineering, PLM, and collaboration tools such as (but not limited to) Jama, Cameo, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, SharePoint.
- Support a broad team by leading the creation of and/or modification of analytical models.
- Perform complex integrated analysis for human spacecraft systems.
- Provide senior engineering support and technical ownership with concept of operations, requirements development, functional decomposition, system verification, validation, integration, and test.
- Lead and be technically responsible for a team of engineers.
- Apply advanced knowledge, principles, theories, and techniques to advance the program
- Establish product and processes metrics that effectively measure and improve performance of supporting systems.
- Identify and fix gaps in existing processes, tools, infrastructure, and continually improve solutions along the way.
- Develop and implement best practices to deploy to the program.
- Develop and mature systems engineering documentation (such as, but not limited to, human rating certification plans, Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), Verification Artifacts).
- Mentorship and training of other team members
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
- Industry practice in Systems Engineering tools and processes.
- A breadth of deep understanding, backed by experience, of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operations.
- Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time.
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.
- Comfortable in a hardware focused development environment

- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Successful candidates will typically have an M.S. and /or PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering field and academic / internship experience using Systems Engineering tools and processes.
- Successful candidates will typically have 8+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Experience with human spacecraft development and integration processes and deliverables.
- Experience in design, analysis, and/or certification of aerospace safety critical systems.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.
- Support up to 25% domestic travel to engage in milestone reviews, training, supplier/partner/customer/team engagements.
- Experience supporting a project through the product development lifecycle
- Experience with software tools such as Jama, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
Compensation Range for:
