Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

You will sit on the software team within Operations that builds tools in direct support of our Manufacturing Engineers.
We are returning humankind to the Moon, and Blue Origin's Manufacturing Engineers build the hardware that gets us there. On our small AI Solutions team, you will help build the full-stack applications and AI-powered tools that put new capabilities in the hands of a 100+ person Manufacturing Engineering organization — so those engineers can spend more time on the engineering they trained for and less on tedious, repetitive work. You'll learn the full stack: front-end interfaces MEs use every day, the services and data pipelines behind them, and LLM-driven features that process manufacturing and work-order data at scale. This is a software engineering role at its core, and a place to grow into one — the best engineers here also make a point of understanding the people they build for, so you'll spend time on the floor with Manufacturing Engineers to learn the work before building for it.
- Shifts: 1st | Mon–Fri (8am–5pm)
- Location: Renton, WA (fully onsite, co-located with the Manufacturing Engineering organization and production floor)
- Relocation: Available
- Build and maintain features in our full-stack web applications — working across the front-end interface, backend services, and data pipelines on task-level assignments with guidance from senior engineers.
- Help maintain and improve existing applications that MEs already rely on — including cleanup and hardening, not just new features.
- Help build AI/LLM-powered features that process manufacturing and work-order data at scale, and assist with tasks like work-order authoring — applying appropriate human-in-the-loop safeguards.
- Practice the full software development lifecycle on your work: writing code, tests, and documentation, and deploying with support from the team.
- Participate in code review as an author, addressing feedback to improve code quality, and support the team's services including the on-call rotation as you ramp.
- Spend time with Manufacturing Engineers to learn how their work actually flows, and help turn real-world workflows into tools they'll adopt.
- Embrace learning at every opportunity — rapidly picking up new technologies and the team's core stack.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another engineering or technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Foundational software engineering ability: writing and debugging code, and a working understanding of core computer-science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms) and the software development lifecycle
- Working ability with front-end web development (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React or a comparable framework) and with a backend language such as Python
- Familiarity with relational databases (SQL) and working with APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
- Interest in and exposure to building with LLMs — using AI to build software and/or building AI-powered features
- Strong communication and collaboration; able to work directly with non-technical users and learn a problem before building for it
- A demonstrated track record of building useful tools or applications with AI/LLMs — personal projects, internal tools, or prototypes that people actually used. *(top differentiator)*
- Manufacturing, aerospace, hardware-production, or operations domain knowledge — especially hands-on familiarity with how a Manufacturing Engineer's work flows (work-order authoring, build support, non-conformance resolution, BOM management). *(top differentiator)*
- Prior experience building software in, or in direct support of, a manufacturing, aerospace, or operations environment — including career-changers moving into software from an engineering discipline.
- Experience with internal component libraries or design systems (e.g., BlueKit) and data/reporting tools (e.g., Redash)
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, containers such as Kubernetes) and CI/CD
- Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES), work-order/work-instruction authoring systems, or PLM
- Exposure to LLM/RAG pipelines or agentic AI workflows
