This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.As a member of this highly skilled and collaborative team, you willbe responsible forproviding structural analysis support for ground support equipment (GSE) and manufacturing tooling, including but not limited to machining fixtures, assembly fixtures, and mechanical systems. Your responsibilities will include conducting structural analyses,reviewingand evaluating both internally developed and vendor-produced designs, and offering structural design consultations to designers and external partners.
Perform strength assessmentsutilizingboth classical analysis techniques and finite element analysis (FEA) for tooling and ground support equipment (GSE)
Document and review stress analyses tofacilitatethe release of engineering drawings and related documentation
Mentor tooling designers on best practices in stress, stability, and fracture analysis
Providetechnical guidance on design concepts, including risk, cost, and performance trade-offs
Support cross-functional teams with input for design development, analysis, and trade studies
Lead conceptual and detailed analysis of tooling and equipment for the manufacture and assembly of structural components, mechanical/actuated systems, and hydraulic and fluid systems
Serve as the technical point of contact and responsible party for vendor-developed tooling projects
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (minimum), with at least8years of experience analyzing ground support equipment (GSE) ortooling in the automotive,aerospaceor similarindustry
Experience creating andvalidatingfinite element models (FEMs)using Ansysor NX Simulation with Nastran
Proven Experience of FEA using 1D, 2D & 3D elements with modelscontainingweldments, machined parts, and weldments
Proficiencyin generating free-body diagrams to calculate internal loads and reaction forces, and in simplifying and idealizing structural problems of varying complexity
Extensive experience analyzing steel and aluminum tooling, including machining fixtures and weldmentsusing hand calculations
Proficiencyin performing bolted joint hand calculations (bolt preload, joint stiffness, shear-tension interaction, insert pull-out, etc.)
Proficiencyin performing welded joint hand calculations (requiredsize, length, effective throat, direct and resultantstress,and failure modes
Demonstrated ability to earn trust,maintainpositive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Familiarity with applicable structural codes (AISC-360, ASME B30 & 31, ASME BTH-1, etc.)
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
Proficiencywith Creo and/or Siemens NX software
Strong customer focus and excellent communication skills
Demonstratedtrack recordof successful project delivery
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
Ability to clearly communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Compensation Range for:
