This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a growing, hardworking, and curious team of design engineers, you’ll be engaged in developing the next generation of Lunar cargo delivery vehicles. Your skill in the analysis of spacecraft structures to support delivery of safe, reliable, ready to install hardware that meets requirements, while doing so within the allocated cost and schedule requirements, will lead to a rewarding career with Blue Origin.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)
  • Acceleration, shock, and vibration measurement and data interpretation of ground and flight tests
  • Modeling, simulation, and verification of spacecraft launch, in-space burns, and landing events
  • Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests
  • General loads development for spacecraft and related ground systems
  • Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals
  • Support configuration development and trade studies
  • Femap, NASTRAN, and Matlab proficiency
  • Support configuration development and trade studies
  • Rigid and flexible body dynamics

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in the prediction/validation of low and/or high frequency structural dynamics and loads, in addition to finite element modeling
  • Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals
  • Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validation
  • Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spacecraft and launch vehicle loads development/validation experience
  • Nastran superelement experience and coupled loads analysis (CLA) with launch vehicle 
  • Hyperworks, NASTRAN, and Matlab proficiency
  • LS-Dyna proficiency
  • Adams proficiency
  • Wave6 proficiency
  • SEA proficiency
  • High frequency environment prediction skills related to spacecraft and launch vehicles
