§ 01OVERVIEW

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This role supports the assembly, integration, and test of advanced hardware systems within a new program at Blue Origin. The successful candidate will perform complex mechanical and electromechanical assembly operations on precision hardware. This is a development environment where technicians will build work centers, first articles, support process development, and help establish the assembly methods that will scale to rate production.

§ 02RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Performing complex mechanical assembly operations including precision fitting, torquing, alignment, shimming, and hardware installation per work instructions and engineering drawings
  • Assembling rotating machinery components including rotor builds, bearing installation, seal installation, and housing closeout with attention to cleanliness and precision requirements
  • Supporting integration of subassemblies into larger system packages including piping connections, instrumentation, and electrical hookup
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and process specifications to execute assembly operations
  • Performing in-process inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, torque wrenches, laser trackers)
  • Documenting assembly results including as-built dimensions, torque records, and inspection data in quality management systems
  • Supporting first article builds and process development — providing feedback on assembly sequences, tooling, and work instruction clarity
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area per FOD prevention and 5S standards
  • Supporting proof testing and functional testing of assembled hardware
  • Identifying and reporting nonconformances; supporting disposition and corrective action activities
§ 03MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certification preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical assembly of complex hardware in an aerospace, industrial, or precision manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T callouts
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, height gauges)
  • Experience with torque-controlled fastening, precision alignment, and fit-up of close-tolerance hardware
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with engineers and inspectors

§ 04PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with rotating machinery assembly (turbines, compressors, pumps, generators, or similar)
  • Experience with precision balancing operations
  • Background in aerospace or defense manufacturing with AS9100 quality systems
  • Experience with overhead crane and rigging operations
  • Familiarity with FOD prevention programs
  • Experience with pressure testing (hydrostatic or pneumatic proof test)
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
